Deandra's fun slide design

After Room 7 looked at the changes in playground slides over time, the students were tasked with designing their own slide.

Deandra has found a fun slide on the internet and labeled the different features that caught her eye. She has thought about what materials are used, design features, angles and height of slide as well as safety.

This is a Google Drawing which I have created to link with the inquiry unit that I am currently  studying.

How playground slides have changed over time by William

Room 7 looked at how the design of playground slides have changed since they were invented in 1922. We thought about what changes were made to the design and what different materials are used. We also looked at some reasons for these changes.

This Google Drawing is showing you my work about how playground slides have changed over time, like in the olden days a man in England built the first ever slide made out of wood and now they change the slides for more safety with lots of colours and many different interesting shapes.

Explanation Writing - Sulaiman

In written language Room 7 were explaining what needs there were in the school and what technology could be used to address that need. Here is Room 7's newest student Sulaiman's piece of writing - I think he makes a good case for getting a games room at TPS!

A need in our school is a game room for year 7 and 8’s.

It would be good to have a game room because it will give year 7 and 8 students time to chill out because of the hard work that they do. We can go there at wet lunchtimes and we can play games instead of doing P.E.

It is a good place for year 7 and 8 to manage themselves and to show responsibility. It will bring them together and get to show incentive, only kids that are at standard or higher, can use the game room it would makes the kids that are not at standards want to achieve more.

We could also fundraise by giving a donation when you want to use the games. With that money we could pay for power of fundraise for community swimming pool, which would be a great thing for our area.

I think it is a great idea to have a game room in our school it would make everyday a good day. We could truly represent our four school core rules; manaakitanga, whanaungatanga, rangimarie and tukumarie.

Marsel's Technology Riddles

This term for our inquiry unit we are investigating technology.
This presentation was a way to test students' knowledge of different types of technology in the form of riddles to figure out.

Using our inferencing skills - Lauren and Lolo's Reading Task

Here is some fantastic work done by the Awesome Summarisers Reading Group.
After reading the journal story Mahinga Kai, Lauren and Lolo have pulled out some information about one of the characters and had a go at inferencing.

This goggle drawing me and my buddy (Lolo) has been working on, is developing my inference skills. I have read a book called Mahinga Kai Crusader Written By Stanley Waish.
