Open and Closed Questions by Ms Aireen

After recording ideas of the importance of questioning Room 7 had to define different categories of questioning. We started by looking at open and closed questions. Here is an animation created by Ms Aireen to help students understand the difference between open and closed questions.

We were then encouraged to create our own informative dialogue by using Go Animate to show our understanding of open and closed questions - we will post our animations later on in the week.

This week Room 7 will be starting their inquiry investigations around the topic of Science. To drive our investigations we need to ask good critical questions. As a class we discussed the purpose of questioning. View the Google Draw below to see our ideas about 'QUESTIONING'.


Science Roadshow 2014

On Friday 23 May the senior syndicate went to Tamaki College for a science show. It was AMAZING. We learnt lots about different areas of science. Room 7's Prior Knowledge about our Inquiry Topic - Discoveries and their Impact

In week 3 Room 7 collated all their prior knowledge about this term's inquiry topic. We did through a bus stop activity. We had to bus to different bus stops and record our prior knowledge of the difference areas of science. We were required to use different skills like working collaboratively, discussing and recording. We are now ready to begin our inquiry investigation.

Categories of Science by John

This task indicate's the 3 keys of Science. These area's are chemistry,biology and physics. Chemistry is the study of chemicals,explosions,gas and liquids. Biology is the study of living things like animals and us humans. Physics is the study of energy which includes our earth, the galaxy and the whole entire universe. Room 7's Class Goals for Term 2 2014


We are glad that Term 2 has started. We know that it is a short term but a VERY busy one. To help us achieve our learning goals for this term and become self regulated learners we have set some goals related to 6 different areas. We look forward to achieving these goals throughout the term.
